FBW actions are good, but they are no longer made, and approach the price of most of the other single shot actions available, that is in the $500 and up range. I do not know of a source for new 44-1/2 actions. WebNov 24, 2010 · OC, CA. Another excellent ctg. for a 44 1/2 is the .25-35WCF, which has the same head size as the .30-30. But be sure you have a 44 1/2; the 44 is a totally different and much weaker action. For that, you could probably interchange low pressure ctgs and barrels: .38-40 with .44-40, .25-20WCF with .32-20 and a few others.
