They run best when the ratio is around 90%, but OEM levels are closer to 78%. A good porting job can give you the optimal exhaust/intake ratio for your bike, but a bad one can make it worse. WebThe S&S 583 is comparable to the SE255, according to S&S. Just swapping cams, even once you've got the right tune going, is gonna be less than thrilling until you bump your compression ratio or add some headwork so those cams can do their job of getting more fuel/air into the motor and exhaust gasses back out.
